Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (HBBA) | Degree | Barrydowne Campus
Our Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in business administration through a unique blend of business courses and specialized streams, which build on the foundation of well-rounded management education including accounting, digital business marketing, and data analytics.
The program is a four-year Bachelor degree where the first four semesters support students to establish foundational knowledge and practice in business administration toward building specialized knowledge. From semester five onwards, students will be able to choose to continue in General Business Administration or select one of the three specialized areas:
- Accounting
- Business Analytics
- Digital Marketing
The students will have an option to specialize in one of the above three areas by choosing electives from the preferred area of specialization. Students, however, will have the option of completing a general business degree by by selecting from the three focus areas to develop a more rounded skill set. Students choosing to specialize in Accounting, assuming they have met the minimum grade requirement, will have completed the preparatory courses required for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP®).
Program Highlights
- Students may choose to complete their degree as business generalists, or, to specialize in one of three areas: Accounting, Business Analytics and Digital Marketing.
- A full semester Internship (co-op) with leading businesses in the community, and globally.
- An Applied Learning Project in the final semester where students will have an opportunity to apply various decision-making skills in a real-world business situations.
- Through case studies and simulations, you will put your skills into action to solve real-life business problems
- Courses are taught by a faculty group comprising of academicians and industry experts.
- The program covers all the functional areas of business in a global context with a focus on decision-making skills.
- Accounting stream courses are recognized by CPA Ontario as preparatory courses required for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP®)
Experiential Learning/Work Experience
As part of the HBBA degree, students will explore work-integrated learning experiences with local businesses and organizations. Students will contribute to analysis and solutions for a variety of real-world business problems, team building events, and departmental projects. Students will also obtain valuable hands-on experience through:
- Various workshops designed to build decision-making skills
- A mandatory 14-week paid Internship/Co-op
- An Applied Learning Project

Admission Requirements
To be eligible to enter the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program, graduates of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSS; 30 credits), or equivalent or mature student status, must complete at least six grade 12 U/M courses with a minimum overall average of 65%, and must qualify to obtain their OSSD. Ontario High School applicants require the following Grade 12 credits:
- Any grade 12 English (U)
- Any grade 12 mathematics (U) *
- Any 4 additional grade 12 courses (U) or (M)
* Students who have not completed grade 12 mathematics (U) but have grade 11 mathematics (C) or (M), must complete BUS1211 - Business Mathematics with a passing grade of 65% or greater to meet admission requirements. The course will be offered both in-class and online over the Spring semester over the following dates:
MAY INTAKE: traditional 14-week delivery from May 8th to August 18th
JULY INTAKE: compressed 7-week delivery from July 4th to August 18th
Additional Requirements
Applicants with transcripts from institutions where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum test score on one of the following language proficiency tests or equivalent scores from another internationally recognized English language test:
- IELTS overall band of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
- TOEFL iBT 88
- CAEL 70, no sub-test band score less than 60
- PTE Academic 58

Two (2) breadth electives must be an advanced/upper-level course (represented by course codes beginning in 39xx). These upper-level are only available in Year 3 or 4 of the program. Students must complete a paid Internship prior to commencing Year 4. This internship will be delivered in the Spring semester between semester 6 and semester 7.
Students graduating from a Business-Accounting diploma or a Business Administration - Accounting advanced diploma and obtaining a 2.5GPA are eligible for an advanced standing in the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program (HBBA). Applicants should apply to HBBP at OCAS. Graduates from a Business Administration - Accounting could be eligible for further transfer credits that will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants accepted for advanced standing under this pathway will receive direct entry into Year 3 and must complete the following requirements.

Specializations
During the degree program students will be exposed to general business education through core courses, knowledge in other domains through non-core degree breadth courses, and specialized business education in a chosen discipline.
The specializations will allow students to receive exposure to more complex theory in their chosen field starting in semester 5. The specializations will reflect current needs in the workforce so that students will graduate ready to meet the needs of industry and fill gaps in the current market.

Furthering Your Studies
Graduates of Cambrian College’s HBBA program will be well poised to expand their learning potential by applying to MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs or other related Master’s programs where the admission requirements include the completion of a four-year Honours Bachelor’s degree program and work experience. Cambrian College’s graduates will have the necessary skills to work in teams to complete analytical problem solving, including case studies, and confidently discuss work experiences in which they contributed to business operations. These experiences will be an asset to any graduate in starting their own venture, working for an existing business, or pursuing a Master’s program.
Advanced Standing Pathways
Cambrian College will grant advanced standing to graduates from Business Diplomas. Graduates from the Business Diploma (GEBU) and the Business Accounting Diploma (BUAP), with a minimum GPA of 2.5 will be eligible to apply to enter the 5th semester (3rd year) of the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration. Students will be granted advanced standing, but will have to take specialized workshops as well as some additional courses within semesters five through eight. These additional courses will come at an additional cost to the student.
Students graduating with an Ontario College Diploma or Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Business or a related field may be eligible for transfer credits towards the HBBA program.
