If you’re looking to gain experience and confidence studying at the college level while also exploring potential programs and career options, this certificate could be perfect for you! Work with our Educational Planning team to create a customized timetable based on your interests, your learning goals, and the program requirements. If you decide to continue in an additional postsecondary certificate or diploma program, it is possible to transfer courses that you've completed in GAPG over to your new program (discuss specific details with the Educational Planner or Program Coordinator).

Admission Requirements

For graduates of the new curriculum (OSS): Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits) or equivalent or mature student status, including any grade 12 English - (E) Workplace, (C) College, (U) University.

General Educational Development (GED) is applicable. Depending on test scores, Accuplacer English Assessment may be required. Please speak to the Program Coordinator for more information.

Program of Study

This program is highly customizable! To earn the General Arts and Science Certificate, you must complete courses in the following categories: 

  • Thinking, Reasoning, Relating
  • English
  • Math
  • Social Studies
  • Science OR Computer Science

Additionally, you will select 9 or 10 elective courses in any field, depending on credit value. Our extremely knowledgeable Education Planner will work with you individually to create a timetable that best reflects your learning goals and interests.
