WES 2490   Field Work II   Credits: 20

In this course, students will experience working in a social service agency in the form of a field placement. Students will have the opportunity to put into practice the concepts, knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom. The second year field placement gives the college supervisor, along with the agency supervisor, the opportunity to evaluate the students as skilled helpers with the responsibilities, tasks and expectations that might be encountered early in the career. This placement is completed during the fourth semester of the program and is 15 weeks in length at 35 to 40 hours per week, depending on the host agency (approximately 600 hours). The final decision regarding the choice of agencies used for field work, as well as the placement of students in these agencies will be determined by the faculty of the Social Service Worker program.
