WES 1295   Field Work I   Credits: 2

In this course, students will have the opportunity to put into practice the concepts, knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom. The first year field placement gives the college supervisor, along with the agency supervisor, the opportunity to evaluate the students as beginning helpers. It is also the student's introduction to the field of social service agencies. This placement is completed during the second semester of the program and is 4 weeks in length at 35 to 40 hours per week (approximately 160 hours in total), depending on the host agency. The final decision regarding the choice of agencies used for field placement, as well as the placement of students in these agencies will be determined by the faculty of the Social Service Worker program.
