USP 2131   Obstetrics and Gynecology II   Credits: 4

In this course, students will examine the the normal sonographic appearances of gynecological and fetal/embryonal anatomy, the common pathologies and imaging artifacts seen in gynecological and obstetrical sonography. Sonographic assessment and evaluation will be presented. Students will discuss common pathologies with a focus on the description of the disease, its clinical presentation, its typical and atypical sonographic appearance(s), the differential diagnosis or diagnosis involved, and the optimum scanning techniques in imaging the abnormality and its associated findings. This course is reinforced by the student's clinical practicum objectives in the obstetrics and/or gynecology clinical setting. This is a core course in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
