USP 1116   Abdominal Ultrasound I   Credits: 4

In this course, students will explore and apply the principles and methods to assess normal anatomy and physiology, pathological processes and common sonographic presentations of structures in the abdominal cavity. Students will focus on the development of three-dimensional visualization skills. In the lab setting, the recognition of normal sonographic findings, technical analysis of sonographic data and technical impression for physician interpretation, utilizing knowledge of structures and conditions, will be reinforced. This is a core course in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
