USP 1009   Clinical Practicum I   Credits: 26

In this course, students will gain practice in abdominal, gynecological, vascular, small parts/ superficial, musculoskeletal sonography. Students will evaluate anatomy and images to determine if additional images are needed. Diagnostic quality of images will be assessed, with appropriate remedial action taken if necessary. Emphasis is placed on development of critical thinking and problem solving skills. Students will interact professionally with all demographic groups and members of the health care team. The student will be provided with the opportunity to strengthen competencies and demonstrate the independent functioning required of an entry-to-practice sonographer.
