SUR 1115   Surveying I   Credits: 4

In this course, students will learn the use and care of surveying equipment and instruments, theory and measurement of linear distances, theory and practice of differential levelling using various types of levels, and the theory and measurement of horizontal and vertical angles using different styles of theodolites. In addition, students will study the format for recording of field
notes and related calculations, errors and corrections in surveying, the determining of azimuths, bearings, latitudes, departures and coordinates, and an introduction to traverses.
