PLT 2405   Transformer & Metering Theory   Credits: 2

In this course, students will take their theoretical electrical knowledge and principles developed in part one of this course and further apply this knowledge to learn both single phase and three phase transformer applications in the generation, transmission, and distribution system. They will focus on the study off three phase transformers, their various winding connections, applications, proper testing, and troubleshooting, maintenance, and their metering, relaying and other protective systems. Students will also be introduced to the phenomenon of thermal emissivity and will prepare a report using the SmartView program. Finally, the students will also learn proper installation and connection of both single phase and three phase transformers.
