PEG 1225   Electricity & Control Systems I   Credits: 3

In this course, students will be introduced to training material similar to that identified on the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) Examination and Certification Guide for the 4th Class Power (Operating) Engineering level. Electrical Safety, magnetism, basic electrical circuits, common electrical test equipment, the operation of generators, motors and transformers will be covered. Students will perform routine mathematical calculations involving electrical circuit relationships, power consumption and efficiency. They will also identify basic instrumentation control symbols and systems and explain basic computer applications as they pertain to automated control. Finally, students will interpret standard electrical drawings. Hands on and documented lab work will be used to reinforce the basic concepts covered in theory classes.
