In this course, students will develop skills in identifying issues surrounding the application of skills, professionalism, and the development of technology relevant to pre-hospital care. This course will aid students to use strategies to be able to locate, select, and discriminate pertinent information, which in turn will support their personal and professional role as paramedics. Students will be exposed to various facets of patient involvement. In the daily encounter, the paramedic must promote a vision of professionalism and integrity. He/she must be confident to delegate direction in the assessment and treatment of his/her patients. The course will introduce the paramedic to criminal scene preservation, aspects of death and consoling the grieved, and allowing the emotions and feelings of paramedics to be expressed through critical incident stress debriefing.
