MRT 2360   Radiation Health & Safety   Credits: 3

In this course, students will learn and simulate proper radiation protective practices. Students will examine the ALARA principle, exposure reports and learn how to educate the public regarding radiation risks. Students will learn and simulate safe radiation practices for patients, technologists, staff, caregivers and the general public. The bio effects of radiation on cells, tissues, organs, and body systems will be discussed. Students will evaluate radiation dose as it compares to, somatic, genetic, acute and delayed radiation effects. This course also integrates information acquired in previous semesters regarding radiation protection and the patient.
