MRT 2350   Patient Management   Credits: 4

In this course, students will continue to build upon the knowledge acquired in Patient Management I. Students will demonstrate proper body mechanics and simulate patient transfers that are utilized in the health care setting. Patient assessment, monitoring and supportive devices will be described and demonstrated in the laboratory environment. Infection control, isolation and sterile techniques will be studied and simulated. Contrast media composition will be explained and intravenous injection will be studied and simulated. Students will study basic pharmacology and gain an understanding of the medications used in the diagnostic imaging department. The appropriate radiographers' response to patient hygiene needs, medical and emergency situations will be discussed and simulated. The clinical environment and the purpose of clinical education will be reviewed and examined.
