MRT 1001   Clinical Practicum I   Credits: 26

In this course, students will obtain the knowledge, skills and ability to interact in a professional manner with health care professionals, patients and caregivers of all demographics. Students will also develop the ability to perform routine radiographic procedures of the extremities, shoulder and pelvic girdle, thorax and spine under direct supervision of a registered Medical Radiation Technologist. All procedural activities will be regulated and supervised by a registered Medical Radiation Technologist. Students may perform radiographic exams with indirect supervision once competency at an entry to practice level has been achieved. Students will evaluate anatomy and patient position to determine if additional images are needed. Diagnostic quality of images will be assessed in collaboration with registered Medical Radiation Technologists, with appropriate remedial action taken if necessary. Hospital orientation will be provided to all students.
