In this course, students will study the fundamental principles of radiation physics. There is major emphasis on the wave and quantum theories of electromagnetic radiation, the generation and properties of x-rays and the interaction processes of ionizing electromagnetic radiation and matter. Accessory radiographic equipment, including x-ray beam limiting devices and filtration, will be studied. Students will be introduced to the units of radiation measurement. The basics of complementary imaging modalities utilized in the clinical environment will be presented.
