MNG 3545   Applied Mine Design   Credits: 3

In this course, students will apply mining, geological and surveying knowledge to the design of mine excavations in both surface and underground environments. This introduction of various facets of mine design will include economic, environmental, social, productivity and safety aspects that drive decision making in mine engineering. The key aspects of definition drilling and ore deposit modeling in the mine planning process will be applied to the creation of an intelligent mine design. Design scales at macro and micro views will be examined to satisfy both development and production requirements typical of mines. Mine and geology engineering procedures, and selected industrial problems will also be examined as well.
