INT 3505   Instrumentation III   Credits: 3

In this course, students will study how processes are controlled in industry. Students will investigate the operation, calibration and use of all elements in a control loop. They will define and describe process controller modes including On / Off control and its applications as well as the fundamentals of proportional, integral and derivative control. Students will examine industrial process drawings to identify various devices and systems, to explain their operation, calibration and to determine various measurement elements for various applications. Students will examine the fundamentals and applications of feed forward, cascade and ratio control strategies. Further, various industrial processes are reviewed to reinforce an understanding of fundamentals as well as major types of controls.
