ESL 1211   ESL Level 4   Credits: 13

In this course, students will further develop the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. They will refine their academic language skills to prepare for either the workplace or for post-secondary coursework. Students will develop independence in reading academic texts, writing comparative and persuasive essays, listening to academic lectures, and giving oral presentations. Students will analyze information in order to apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to make decisions. Students will also demonstrate their ability to learn new material and language skills independently in order to meet their own academic goals. This course also includes academic study skills, tutoring, off-campus excursions and workshops to help students acquire academic English skills.
