ENV 1011   Soil Science   Credits: 3

In this course, students will examine soil formation processes, soil types, horizons, textures, water content, fertility and drainage characteristics. Students will also discuss the roles of soil fauna and flora in horizon development and nutrient cycling. Students will employ analytical techniques in the laboratory to determine chemical and nutrient characteristics of various soil types. Students will be introduced to soil profiles, indicator plants, restoration methods and sustainable practices through excursions and field exercises.
