ELC 1230   Electrical Theory and Wiring II   Credits: 6

In this course, students will develop knowledge pertaining to electric power distribution in such fields as metering for power consumption calculations, installation of residential service entrance equipment according to the required individual load demands. They will apply the proper techniques and procedures to calculate, analyze and relate voltage, current, and resistance values using multi-meters and other electrical test equipment. The students will gain knowledge about cables, conductors, conduit and raceways as related to various applications in the electrical field. They will be introduced to grounding and bonding methods in regards to safety. Street lighting, applications, and actual installations are also discussed and practiced. Finally, students will be introduced to the concept of three phase power.
