ELC 1130   Electrical Theory and Wiring I   Credits: 6

In this course, students will develop the ability to describe the physical concepts of electricity. They will apply Ohm's Law to series, parallel, and series/parallel circuits to solve for current, voltage, resistance and power. Students will use their digital multi meters to measure voltage, current and resistance. They will be able to identify and describe the use of batteries and other sources of electricity and study magnetism as it applies to the electrical field. Finally a brief introduction to UWPC (Utility Work Protection Code) is provided as it relates to the Powerline trade.
