ELC 1006   Intermediate PLC   Credits: 6

In this course, students will experience hands-on training with Programmable Logic Controllers. They will describe PLC hardware, PLC configuration and system communication. Students will also be introduced to a fundamental usage of the Unity Pro industrial software. They will be able to describe each programming function, how they work, and the different options they afford. Programming techniques will include basic relay functions, timer and counter instructions, arithmetic operations, as well as data manipulation and data transfer operations.Guidelines regarding a systematic approach to PLC programming will be emphasized and reinforced with comprehensive, industrial-based hands-on Benchwork exercises.
