ECE 1012   Leadership in ECE   Credits: 3

In this course, students will explore the role of the Early Childhood Educator as an advocate for children and families. Students will examine their leadership traits and the strategies, including mentorship and coaching, that can be used as part of a professional development plan as they prepare to be "employment ready". The process of managing early childhood programs will also be examined through an analysis of government policies, funding mechanisms and relevant legislation related to early childhood programs. The student will prepare for application to the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario and examine the professional expectations and responsibilities of membership which includes the requirement for continuous professional learning.
