DSW 2310   Dual Diagnosis Treatment & Assess   Credits: 3

In this course, students will construct a working knowledge of the mental health needs of children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Students will look at prevalence, etiology and characteristics of mental health disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorders, personality disorders etc. In addition, the student will demonstrate the ability to monitor outcomes as it relates to success of treatment or additional interventions, initiate strategies based on current research and trends, and to collaborate as part of an inter-professional team to develop and implement intervention strategies related to a person with a dual diagnosis.
