In this course, students will gain experience in settings that meet the daily needs of students / individuals experiencing life with disabilities. As a Developmental Services Professional trainee, students will continue to practice skills learned in either an educational or adult sector programs. Students will experience providing direct care for meeting primary needs and health needs, supporting quality of life, facilitating community inclusion and involvement, and developing training and teaching programs. Students are expected to work the regularly scheduled hours of the Placement Site. Over a 4 week period, the aggregate placement hours will range between 112 - 128 hours. These hours include the mandatory pre-placement orientation sessions. Prior to beginning Placement, students must show original documentation that they have a current Criminal Records Check, a current First Aid/CPR Certificate, and are officially registered as a student at Cambrian College.
