DEN 1260   Health Promotion   Credits: 3

In this course, students will examine the material in three sections; Section A: Students will study and implement oral disease prevention strategies. They will then evaluate oral hygiene and demonstrate client care regimes as they relate to the risk factors of biofilm and related diseases. Section B: Students will study nutrition as it relates to oral health and the prevention of disease with emphasis on oral conditions related to nutritional disturbances. And the concepts of health promotion through proper diet and health lifestyle practices will be examined. Additionally, students will study counseling techniques related to nutrition and tobacco cessation. Section C: Students will examine oral health care needs of persons with exceptionalities and also of the medically compromised client.
