In this course, students will examine computer hardware and operating system software. Students will gain working knowledge of how computers work, how to assemble computers, and how to effectively troubleshoot both hardware and software issues. Through interactive exposure, students will be able to describe internal components of a computer and their functions, computer system assembly method, desktop operating system installation and troubleshooting using system tools and diagnostic software. Students will also investigate peripheral and portable devices, wireless connectivity, security, safety and environmental issues. Moreover, students will practice professional customer service communication skills required within the IT service field. This course will help students prepare for entry-level IT positions within various environments working with desktop, laptop and mobile computers.
