CHM 1003   Organic and Biological Chemistry   Credits: 4

In this course, students will build upon the foundation established in General Chemistry I. Students will be provided with an extended background in the chemical concepts particularly applicable to students entering health science and chemistry programs. Topics covered include alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatic compounds, alcohols, phenols, thiols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, lipids, amines, amides, amino acids and proteins. Classroom theory will be supported by laboratory work.
