In this course, students will gain a solid foundation in fundamental networking concepts. Through this course, students will develop an understanding of the architecture, structure, functions, components and models of the Internet and other computer networks. Students will use the OSI and TCP layered models to examine the operation and roles of protocols and services at the application, network, data link and physical layers. Students will also gain hands-on experience configuring infrastructure devices such as switches and routers. Implementing principles and structure of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing as well as fundamental Ethernet concepts, media and operations will equip students with a solid foundation in fundamental networking concepts.
