CET 1008   Scaling Networks   Credits: 4

In this course, students will learn and apply technologies and protocols needed to scale an enterprise network. Students will learn about campus network design architectures, components, and operations of routers and switches in larger and more complex enterprise networks. Specifically, students will learn how to implement a scalable LAN campus network by configuring VLAN management using VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) and inter-VLAN routing. Students will also learn to to support a Layer 2 redundant network using Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Rapid-STP, EtherChannel link aggregation, and first hop redundancy using Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP). Students will then learn about modern dynamic routing and configure and troubleshoot advanced operations of routers and implement OSPF and EIGRP routing protocols for IPv4 and IPv6.
