Independent Music Production (MPCP)

This program is the perfect stepping stone if you are interested in further studies in audio recording and music production or if you wish to pursue independent music recording and composition as a career.
You will learn the foundations of music recording, editing, and performance, along with the communications and creative skills necessary to begin navigating the many facets of the music industry. Program activities include a hands-on approach to small-scale, computer-based recording and editing, an overview of the roots of popular music and current trends in the music recording industry, and an examination of the business skills needed to successfully promote one's self in the industry.
You will have the opportunity to work in labs with recording industry professionals. In addition, you will work with Cambrian's world-class music faculty in a one-one-one lesson environment to ensure your musical capabilities progress in step with your technical knowledge.
- 1 year – 2 semesters
- Gain a solid foundation in all aspects of music production
- Continue to develop your musical capabilities alongside your technical knowledge
For graduates of the new curriculum (OSS): Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits) or equivalent or mature student status, including: Demonstrated basic proficiency on an instrument from the following areas:
- Orchestral strings
- Winds or brass
- Orchestral percussion
- Drum kit
- Acoustic or electric guitar

Tuition Fee (Canadian Students)
The tuition fee for the 2015-2016 academic year is $3,655.48. Next year's tuition fees will be available by May 1, 2016.
Tuition Fee (International Students)
The tuition fee for the 2015-2016 academic year is $13,614.00 for two semesters of study. Some exceptions apply. Next year's tuition fees will be available May 1, 2016.
