Maintain law and order with a job in corporate security

From concerts to hospitals, safety and security plays a crucial role in diverse industries like mining, education, casino, energy, retail, medical, residential, and entertainment. You’ll learn to communicate effectively with different types of people in situations of both conflict and calm and manage the movement of people and vehicles. 

Explore how to conduct patrols and investigations, utilize security equipment, collect evidence, take notes, and make arrests. As a graduate, you’ll be able to walk off the campus and into a job armed with additional credentials in non-violent crisis intervention, suicide intervention, and mental health first aid. 

Program highlights

  • Earn certifications as part of your coursework, such as safeTALK, Emergency First Aid and CPR Level A, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, and more 
  • Prepares you to write the Ontario Security Guard License and Ontario Private Investigators License exams

Admission requirements

For graduates of the new curriculum (OSS): Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits) or equivalent or mature student status, including:

  • Any grade 12 English (C) or (U)

Additional admissions requirements

A criminal record check may be required for field trips and placement opportunities. A criminal record can be a serious impediment to employment in this field.

Students successfully completing the Corporate Safety and Security program may enter directly into the second year of the Protection, Security, and Investigation program.
